"Greetings From America" - U.S. State Postage Stamp Art

The 34-cent, Greetings from America commemorative postage stamps were issued at ceremonies held, for the first time, in every state on the same day - April 4, 2002. The stamps combine flora and fauna with local points of interest into collages that celebrate the unique character of each of the 50 states.

The bright colors and creative designs of the Greetings from America stamps hint at the romance of travel and discovery and convey a nostalgia for all aspects of popular American culture.

The stamp designs were inspired by the retro "large letter" postcards that were used in the 1930s and '40s to advertise cities, states or tourist attractions.
